(IPL) INTENSE PULSED LIGHT

The final depilation by means of Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) and laser are often confused. Both methods use light, but are not the same. The light flashes used at IPL are intertwined at different wavelengths. With laser, only one wavelength is used.

The result of definitive hair removal differs per individual, hair is in fact related to hormones, so the results are very diverse. The hair color, hair structure and skin color also play a major role. Dark thick hair and light skin generally have the best results.

The light of the light flash seeks the pigment of the hair, if the skin color matches the hair color, a large part of the energy will be lost, because the flash can not find a difference.

Hairs that contain little pigment, such as blonde, gray or red hair, are unable to absorb sufficient energy from the light to damage the hair root.

Depilation on dark skin also works, extra treatments are often required and there are more risks involved. If there are any doubts as to whether IPL is suitable for you, it may be possible to test on an inconspicuous piece of skin.

Although it is called definitive depilation, there is no guarantee that it will definitively go away. More realistic is a percentage of 80 to 90% hair reduction, but not 100%. There are various results such as, reducing hair, but also the softening and finer hair. Before the treatment we can not indicate what results you will receive and how many treatments you will need. After a number of treatments we can assess the course and give indications.

Before the treatment, the hairs of the treatment area must be shaved, a small tip of hair must protrude from the skin. The hair tip provides the conduction of the energy that is in the flash, the hair root and the hair follicle (bag where the hair root is stuck). Every time the hair follicle is damaged more and more, the hair will eventually no longer grow.

Each hair is in a different phase, so one needs more treatments than the other. We also advise you to undergo an annual treatment if you have already finished treatment, this in order to keep the result optimal.

IPL is not only good against unwanted hair growth but also for treating acne, skin improvement and rosacea.
